Scenic Rim Regional Council has extended Tamborine Village Lions Club's lease on property at Tamborine-Waterford Road for a further five years.

Corporate and Community Services Chair Cr Virginia West said the lease on the Tamborine Memorial Hall precinct, which commenced in July 2013, had been renewed until 30 June 2023.

"Since the club was formed in July 2010 by a group of community-minded locals wanting to start a community-based service club, the Tamborine Village Lions Club has supported local people with disabilities and raised funds for a number of worthwhile causes," she said.

"It has developed partnerships with a number of local community-based organisations and businesses, become involved in community greening projects and coordinated a range of successful projects.

"These have included Christmas Concerts, Community Markets, the Lions Youth Exchange Program, Flood and Farm Appeal, catering for Council's Community Day, tree planting in Tambourine Park as part of a Lions International project and fundraising for cerebral palsy.

"A key project for the club was the establishment of the new Tamborine District Cenotaph, in partnership with Council and the Memorial Hall Committee.

"The club has maintained the property satisfactorily throughout its lease and Council is pleased to support its community work by continuing that agreement."
