Council has renewed two leases over local halls which are focal points of their Scenic Rim communities.

The Tamborine Memorial Hall Management Association and the Kooralbyn Community Centre Management Committee have each had their leases extended for a further five years.

Corporate and Community Services Chair Cr Michael Enright said the Tamborine Memorial Hall's committee had an impressive 30-year record of managing the facility and grounds which include a tennis court, the old school house building, an arts and crafts shop, a playground area, barbecue, shaded area with picnic tables and chairs and water tanks.

Division 2 Councillor Nadia O'Carroll paid tribute to the Tamborine Memorial Hall Management Association for its professional management of the community facility on Waterford-Tamborine Road.

The enthusiasm and commitment of the Kooralbyn Community Centre Management Committee during the past nine years has seen its lease extended on the community centre at Ogilvie Place.

Mayor Greg Christensen said a number of groups across the region managed facilities, which are at the heart of Scenic Rim communities, on behalf of Council.

"I applaud their efforts and look forward to their continued contribution," he said.
