Multisensory art exhibition to bloom in the Scenic Rim

A multisensory exhibition, which blossomed from Queensland artist Cara-Ann Simpson’s experience following a life-changing medical diagnosis, is set to captivate audiences following its opening at The Centre Beaudesert on Saturday 3 May.
Latin for 'stealing flowers', the Furari Flores exhibition features interactive elements including scent sculptures, tactile fabric works and soundscapes drawn from natural environments.
The artist’s works invite audiences into a world of botanical wonder, technology, and deep listening, offering an immersive experience that inspires reflection.
Scenic Rim's Community, Arts and Culture Portfolio Councillor, Kerri Cryer, said the exhibition provokes emotional responses while embracing inclusiveness and environmentally responsible accessible designs.
“This is more than just an exhibition, it’s a journey that explores nature through all the senses,” Cr Cryer said.
“Council is proud to bring inclusive, transformative artist experiences such as Furari Flores to our community and to shine a light on how art can inspire joy, healing, and deep connections with nature.”
Running until 19 July, the exhibition combines science and art with Cara-Ann Simpson’s personal journey of recovery from illness.
Diagnosed with a brain infection in 2017 that left her unable to walk or speak, her simple daily act of bringing flowers into her rehabilitation room became a healing ritual that eventually evolved into the
Furari Flores body of work and mirrors her path from despair to recovery and hope.
A special launch event will be held at The Centre Beaudesert on Saturday 17 May at 2pm, with a guided tour by Cara-Ann Simpson at 1.15pm. and a guest speaker segment by Japanese-Australian artist Elysha Rei.
The launch is free to attend however bookings are essential.
The free Furari Flores exhibition is open to the public during gallery hours of Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and Saturdays from 10am to 2pm.
