Council Accepts Wedding Venue's Proposal
Tamborine Mountain's blossoming wedding industry is set for further growth following Council's approval of a new venue.
The proposal for the venue at Alpine Terrace, Tamborine Mountain, was approved with conditions despite concerns by Councillors and community members over its potential impact.
Planning Committee Chair, Cr Nigel Waistell, who spoke against the proposal, said it was inconsistent with the Planning Scheme and that over-riding need and support from the community were not demonstrated.
Division 2 Councillor Nadia O'Carroll also spoke against the proposal citing concerns over amenity and potential environmental impacts.
The venue was approved to operate from 7am to 7pm Monday to Sunday for a maximum of 90 guests or visitors at a time.
Mayor Greg Christensen said Council was aware of the range of submissions which showed diverse views, however, the applicant had adopted a number of changes from the original proposal to mitigate risks and satisfy the principles of the Planning Scheme.
