Scenic Rim Officially Welcomes Twenty-Two New Australians at Australia Day Citizenship and Awards Ceremony

Families, friends and Scenic Rim community members gathered today at The Centre Beaudesert for a day of celebrations and to warmly welcome 22 new Aussies at a special Australia Day citizenship ceremony.

Now making the Scenic Rim their home, the newly minted Australian citizens originally migrated from the United Kingdom, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Philippines, Germany, Iran, New Zealand, Indonesia, the United States, Poland and Finland.

Officiating the citizenship ceremony, Mayor Tom Sharp said it was a privilege for him to be able to play a role in welcoming the new Australians on one of their most memorable days.

“The happiness and pride shown by the new Australian citizenship recipients was infectious,” he said.

“The 22 Scenic Rim residents who took part in today’s ceremony add to the rich culture of our community, which is something we all take pride in.”

“It is an honour to be able to welcome them to our region on such an important day and as they embark on their next chapter as an Australian.”

The Scenic Rim’s 22 new citizens were among thousands of people who today pledged their loyalty to Australia and its people, democratic beliefs, rights, liberties, and laws at citizenship ceremonies held nationwide on Australia Day.

The citizenship ceremony was also held in conjunction with the 2025 Scenic Rim Australia Day Awards, which recognises the significant contribution that individuals and community events have made to the Scenic Rim region and its broader communities.
