This National Volunteer Week, Scenic Rim Regional Council is celebrating the invaluable contributions of the volunteers across our spectacular region.

Established in 1989, National Volunteer Week 2024 will run from Monday 20 May to Sunday 26 May and offers a chance for the wider community to express its gratitude towards volunteers and their efforts across Australia.

According to recent statistics, 14.70 per cent of Scenic Rim residents are actively engaged in volunteering, setting the region well above the state average of 11.31 per cent.

Scenic Rim Mayor Tom Sharp said he was so proud that the region had been recognised as having the highest level of volunteerism in Queensland.

“It’s moments like this which truly demonstrate the Scenic Rim’s remarkable community spirit and shows what sets our beautiful region apart from the rest of the state,” he said.

“Our dedicated volunteers truly are the heartbeat of our communities and play an essential role in shaping and enriching the lives of those around them.”

Mayor Sharp said this year’s National Volunteer Week theme, Something for Everyone, celebrated the diverse passions and talents of the region’s volunteers and showed that anyone can make a difference to their community.

“National Volunteer Week highlights that volunteering can be a powerful force for positive change,” he said.

“We invite everyone to explore the vast array of volunteering opportunities available in our region and discover the transformative impact it can have on both you and your community.

“Whether you’re drawn to event volunteering, working at our local libraries, museums, or visitor information centres, or signing up to be a Community Disaster Volunteer, there really is something for everyone in the world of volunteering in the Scenic Rim.”
