Celebrate Beaudesert's birthday by sharing memories and memorabilia

With preparations in full swing for Beaudesert's 150th birthday celebrations, Scenic Rim Regional Council is hoping residents will come to the party by sharing their memories and memorabilia for an exhibition opening in July. 

The Between the Rivers and the Mountains exhibition traces Beaudesert's journey during the past 150 years and will be one of the high points of the township's 2024 sesquicentenary celebrations. 

Scenic Rim Arts Reference Group Chair Cr Michael Enright said the exhibition at The Centre Beaudesert would celebrate the growth and development of the town since the arrival of its first settlers in the early 1800s to the present day. 

"Beaudesert's centenary celebrations in 1974 were a special time for our town and there would be many folk in our community who still remember that time fondly," he said. 

"In the 50 years since, we've seen many changes in Beaudesert. 

"To show just how far we have come in the past 150 years, we're looking for whatever hidden gems may be tucked away, from photos of the old Imperial Theatre to street parade souvenirs or artworks of the town. 

"We need your help to uncover some wonderful memories so that these can be shared with the wider community." 

Residents who believe they may have something special to contribute to the exhibition are invited to take a photo of their picture or object and email this to culturaloperations@scenicrim.qld.gov.au by Saturday 23 March 2024. 

Those whose items are selected for display in the exhibition will be contacted by a member of Council's Cultural Services Team by 30 April 2024 and all items will be returned to their owners after the exhibition.
