Scenic Rim's membership of a South East Queensland-wide alliance working to respond to the challenges of climate change has been endorsed by Council.

Joining Brisbane, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Logan, Moreton Bay and Noosa councils in a coordinated partnership to address climate change across the councils, Scenic Rim Regional Council will contribute to the South East Queensland Climate Resilient Alliance (SEQCRA) for three years.

As sustainability and climate change response become increasing priorities for South East Queensland councils, Scenic Rim's membership of SEQCRA recognises that climate change impacts extend beyond local government boundaries.

SEQCRA membership will enable local governments to collaborate on climate projects and programs, share knowledge and advocate for funding from other levels of government as a collective.

Supported by the Council of Mayors South East Queensland and the Local Government Association of Queensland, SEQCRA's objectives align with the themes of the Scenic Rim Climate Change Roadmap 2024-2034 and three year Action Plan 2024-2026 adopted by Council in January 2024.

Through SEQCRA, Council aims to address the themes of the Scenic Rim Climate Change Statement of Intent, while collaboration with other councils may provide opportunities to save money while reducing greenhouse emissions.
