Damage to a section of Head Road at Carneys Creek caused by recent rainfall

The reopening of Head Road at Carneys Creek, which was damaged during the 2019 Black Summer bushfires and subsequent flood events, has been delayed due to recent wet weather.

While the recent rainfall in our region was much needed, it has unfortunately damaged works which were still in progress on sections of Head Road.

These sections of the road will need to be repaired and sealed once the weather permits.

The road is now anticipated to reopen in late December 2023, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Scenic Rim Regional Council will continue to provide updates regarding this project and thanks the community for their patience and understanding during the extended closure of Head Road.

Assistance for this project has been provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
