Infrastructure Plan Open for Community Comment

Council has commenced community consultation on a proposed change to incorporate a Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) into the three existing planning schemes covering the Scenic Rim region.

Written submissions about any aspect of the proposed LGIP to replace the Priority Infrastructure Plans currently contained in the Beaudesert Shire Planning Scheme, Boonah Shire Planning Scheme and Ipswich Planning Scheme must be received by Scenic Rim Regional Council before 4.30pm on Thursday 15 March 2018.

Mayor Greg Christensen said the proposed LGIP will integrate infrastructure planning with land use planning in the three existing planning schemes and identify the key infrastructure needed to support future urban development in the region.

"It will also provide the basis for Council to levy infrastructure charges and place conditions on trunk infrastructure - such as roads, drainage and parks - as part of developments," he said.

"This will ensure infrastructure associated with new development is planned and provided efficiently, cost effectively and sustainably, and that it aligns with Council's asset management and long-term financial planning."

The proposed LGIP and supporting material can be viewed online and downloaded from www.scenicrim.qld.gov.au

It is also available for inspection and purchase from Council's customer service centres at Beaudesert, Boonah and Tamborine Mountain.
