Waste Transfer Stations – help us improve our service
Scenic Rim Regional Council is inviting residents to share their feedback on how it can increase diversion of waste from landfill and improve customer experience at its waste transfer stations.
Council is keen to hear how its seven waste transfer stations are functioning from the user perspective as part of its Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy 2021-2026.
These stations are distributed across the region in populated areas to provide maximum convenience for local residents and located in Boonah, Canungra, Central (Bromelton), Kalbar, Peak Crossing, Rathdowney, and Tamborine Mountain. The community can share their feedback on any of the seven sites.
Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen said the region is known for its clean mountain air and pristine landscapes.
“To keep it this way, reducing waste is something we need to continuously work on improving and ensure we are promoting effective and efficient waste minimisation and management," he said.
“Council has a responsibility to ensure we are providing a user-friendly service that is accessible and straight forward for the community. We are also looking to ensure our services and infrastructure prioritise waste diversion and resource recovery.
“All feedback is valuable in understanding how we are doing, and how we can improve.”
Have your say by joining the community panel Let's Talk at letstalk.scenicrim.qld.gov.au/waste-facilities-review. The feedback portal has been divided by each transfer station, so residents only need to comment on the location, or locations they use the most. The consultation period is open between Tuesday 19 April - Sunday 15 May.
Council also wishes to remind residents of the How to Reduce Waste, Your Handy Guide. It has been produced to help residents make choices that will improve their world as well as the environment by avoiding waste and maximising opportunities to reuse and recycle while saving money. You can view the guide on Council’s website here: www.scenicrim.qld.gov.au/council-services/waste-services.
