Community Grants Enrich the Scenic Rim
Thirty community groups across the Scenic Rim will share in a total of more than $82,000 allocated by Council under Round One of its Community Grants Program for 2018-19.
Corporate and Community Services Chair, Cr Michael Enright, said Council assessed 31 diverse applications, totalling more than $103,000, by Scenic Rim community groups for projects ranging from small items of equipment to community festivals.
"The Community Grants Program aims to provide assistance to local not-for-profit groups and organisations that make a positive contribution to the quality of life in the Scenic Rim," he said.
"Grants awarded through this program support the work of grassroots groups that rely heavily on volunteers and contribute to the quality of life in our region by strengthening the social fabric of our communities.
"Many of these groups bring our communities together through events and activities that celebrate our identity, culture and diversity."
Council's Community Grants program was revised in 2017 from four to two funding rounds that are now aligned with the Sport and Recreation Grants Program.
The groups and their projects to benefit from the first round of Community Grants for the 2018-19 year are:
