Step Up to be Part of the 2019 Healthy and Active Program
Scenic Rim sporting and recreation clubs, community organisations and health professionals are invited to team with Council in providing the 2019 Be Healthy and Active program.
Expressions of interest opening on Monday 10 September will continue until Wednesday 3 October for providers to nominate for next year's line-up of free and low-cost activities to be run across the Scenic Rim.
Following the success of this year's program, which capitalised on the excitement of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Mayor Greg Christensen encouraged the local community to step up to be part of the 2019 program.
"If you're involved in the fitness, health, sport, recreation or wellness industries and are passionate about delivering affordable activities that encourage our residents to be healthy and active, consider expressing your interest to help make next year's program the best yet," he said.
"This year's program offered many free and low-cost activities ranging from abseiling to Zumba and our goal now is to raise the bar even higher."
Many providers who offered activities this year shared positive feedback to Council highlighting the benefits they enjoyed from their involvement in the program.
"This program is an opportunity for our local providers to be promoted through Council's networks, increase their business profile and connect with various key community events, all while creating a healthier community," Cr Christensen said.
As well as outdoor sporting and recreational activities, the Be Healthy and Active program includes indoor pastimes and information sessions, such as Wheel of Wellbeing workshops and health and nutrition seminars.
A number of activities that featured in this year's program proved so popular they are likely to become regular features of the community calendar.
Service providers, community groups, sport and recreation clubs and individuals interested in providing a program or activity in the 2019 Be Healthy and Active Program should visit Council's website at www.scenicrim.qld.gov.au/healthy-and-active-community or contact Council's Healthy and Active Officers on 07 5540 5111.
