Annual Report Gives Scenic Rim's Account Of 2017-18

Scenic Rim Regional Council's 2017-18 Annual Report, an account of Council's financial and operational performance for the year, was adopted at today's Ordinary Meeting.

Mayor Greg Christensen said the Annual Report and Financial Statements which were approved by the Queensland Audit Office were prepared in line with the Local Government Act 2009.

"I encourage everyone to take a look at the 2017-18 Annual Report which reflects our region's many outstanding achievements in what was our 10th anniversary year since the council amalgamations of 2008," he said.

"This comprehensive document represents a report card to the community on the progress made in achieving the outcomes of the Community Plan which provides the overarching framework for every aspect of Council's service delivery to the Scenic Rim.

"It reflects our commitment to ensuring the Scenic Rim is the best place in which to live, work and enjoy life to the fullest and that ours is a region of viable and sustainable towns and villages whose enviable lifestyle respects the important relationship between the environment and economic growth."

The 2017-18 Annual Report continues the story of the Scenic Rim's recovery works on road and bridge infrastructure following Ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie in April 2017 which left Council with a damage bill of more than $38.5 million.

It also documents highlights of the year which included the most successful Eat Local Week ever in June and the Fires on Top of Mountains cultural program, which brought the community together in celebrating the Scenic Rim's unique lifestyle in the lead-up to the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in April.

"While the report looks back on the 2017-18 year it also looks to the many opportunities that are on the horizon for the year ahead," Cr Christensen said.

The report can be viewed online at Council's website, with copies also available on request at Council's Customer Contact Centres at Tamborine Mountain, Beaudesert and Boonah.
