Artists To Draw On $25,000 In Funding

Three local artists will share in funding of more than $25,000 through the Scenic Rim's Regional Arts Development Fund grants.

Council's Arts Reference Group Chair, Councillor Nadia O'Carroll, praised the high standard of applicants in round one of the Regional Arts Development Fund grants allocation.

"These projects will provide benefits for the arts and general community throughout the Scenic Rim," she said.

"The committee was very thorough in assessing the RADF grant applications which was a challenge in view of the high standard of the many applications received."

Textile artist Bec Andersen will use her funding for a Sew Local Sweat Shop public art event. The performance will provide community building and educational opportunities to participants and audience members.

Emma Bosworth will use her grant to host a songwriters' retreat at Wild Mountains. The retreat will bring together 12 mid-career songwriters and new writers in a collaborative project to empower their education.

Howard Edmunds' grant funding will go to the concept development for a south west regional tour of Opera Eagle's Nest. This program will increase the professional development of musicians.

The RADF partnership is an agreement between Scenic Rim Regional Council and the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland. Council's contribution of $30,000 for the 2018-19 financial year was also combined with $40,000 from Arts Queensland.
