Lease Renewal Secures Historical Society's Future
The society has managed the facility under agreement since July 1981 and in its more than 35-year history on the site has met the conditions of its lease at all times.
Division 1 Councillor Nigel Waistell said the Tamborine Mountain Historical Society was not only an important part of the Mountain's history but had also become a drawcard for Scenic Rim tourism.
"The Tamborine Mountain Historical Society plays an important part in our community and its volunteers work very hard to create a good product," he said.
"Council appreciates the work of the volunteers who do such a great job preserving the history of Tamborine Mountain and in providing a facility that brings visitors to the Scenic Rim.
"It's great to see the increased number of tourists visiting the facility with its extended opening hours."
Council has renewed the lease for a five-year term on a 3592m2 section with an option of a further five years.
