Scenic Rim creatives can share in $25,000 of Regional Arts Development Funding (RADF) if they have a big cultural idea which benefits the public or professional development in the arts.

The Big Ideas Community Grants funding application program closes on Tuesday, 19 February for public or individual career development projects which meet themes such as place making, artists in residence, children and families or development.

Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen said projects funded by the RADF program had individual benefits for the artists but also for the wider Scenic Rim community.

"We are looking for people who want to explore and experiment with new ideas to show the best of our region," he said.

"Projects are especially welcomed from those who have not previously applied, young people, people with a disability and projects focusing on indigenous connection.

"We hope to be able to see an idea which could have an outcome at our Arts Ablaze program in October."

Queensland Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch said investing in creative and cultural experiences through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) strengthened regional communities, boosted cultural tourism, and enhanced the quality of life in rural and remote towns and cities.

“RADF is a unique partnership between the Queensland Government and Scenic Rim Regional Council to support local talent, unite communities and celebrate the arts across the state," she said.

“The Queensland Government, through Arts Queensland, is contributing $2.08 million in 2018-19 in partnership with 58 councils statewide to help deliver cultural experiences which align with local priorities."

Past projects such as Goat Track Theatre Birds of a Feather performance and John Long's The Saga of King Waagun children's book have benefited from RADF grants.

Projects can be based in any medium or art form and can be in the form or cultural, heritage or development opportunities.

The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is a partnership between the Queensland Government  and Scenic Rim Regional Council to support local arts and culture in Regional Queensland.
