Scenic Rim Regional Council has appointed four new General Managers to head the organisation under the refreshed and refocused organisational structure announced in August.

Mayor Greg Christensen said the new General Managers would take on their portfolios of People and Strategy, Customer and Regional Prosperity, Council Sustainability and Asset and Environmental Sustainability in mid-December.

“With the additional opportunities and challenges as our region continues to grow strongly, we must continue to explore ways to be better, to be more efficient and to be more productive to meet the needs and expectations of our community,” he said.

"Having celebrated 10 years since amalgamation, and with a new Planning Scheme for the whole region now out to public consultation, the appointment of these key positions represents another chapter in the Scenic Rim story.”

People and Strategy will be headed by Jennifer Schafer, a leading HR consultant with the State Government, with considerable experience in government departments throughout Queensland.

Customer and Regional Prosperity will be managed by Debra Howe, currently the Director Strategic Growth and Development at Livingstone Shire Council. She has also held significant positions in Queensland and Victorian local governments.

Council Sustainability will be managed by Oliver Pring, currently Director of Corporate and Community Services at Carpentaria Shire Council, with strong financial and rating experience in local government.

Council’s current Acting Director of Infrastructure Services, Christopher Gray, has been appointed General Manager Asset and Environmental Sustainability. He has a wealth of local government experience in the Scenic Rim region and has previously worked for Kingaroy Shire Council.

All four General Managers will take up their positions on Monday 17 December.
