Scenic Rim community members will be invited to have their say on Council's draft Corporate Plan 2025-2030 following its endorsement at today's Ordinary Meeting.

Incorporating feedback from a four-week program of community consultation to be conducted during April and May 2025, the new Corporate Plan will replace both the Community Plan 2011-2026 and the existing Corporate Plan, Scenic Rim 2026

Scenic Rim Mayor Tom Sharp said it was important that the new Corporate Plan reflects Council and community priorities, providing a clear vision for the region for the next five years.

"The draft Corporate Plan sets six new strategic goals for the Scenic Rim and outlines Council's approach in achieving these," he said.

"It provides a vision for the region, with a clear direction for Council and its partners to work towards, taking account of the opportunities and challenges facing the Scenic Rim, whether social, economic or environmental.

"Our vision is for the Scenic Rim as a world-renowned region, recognised for its unique natural beauty and heritage, authentic experiences and welcoming communities, supported by Council's mission of proudly delivering services and infrastructure for our community.

"The values of Scenic Rim Regional Council - SRRC - Service, Resilience, Respect and Commitment, which were developed in consultation with staff, will redefine our organisational culture to ensure we provide the highest levels of service to our community."

Under the banner of FOCUS, Council's guiding principles aim to deliver Financial Sustainability, Operational Effectiveness, a positive Customer Experience, a United Team and Strategic Partnerships, all contributing to improved organisational effectiveness.

In addition to the continued delivery of services and infrastructure to the Scenic Rim community as outlined in Council's Service Catalogue and Capital Works Program, the draft Corporate Plan identifies six key areas which will be the focus of investment during the next five years.

These are:
• Planning and place making, with planning for towns, villages and neighbourhoods reflecting the character and heritage of the Scenic Rim
• Integrated transport, for a transport network that is connected and accessible
• Economic development, to support the region's strong economic growth and local businesses
• Connected communities, to ensure Scenic Rim's communities are interconnected, inclusive, resilient and healthy
• Environment and waste, recognising the importance of carefully managing the region's biodiversity and biosecurity and reducing waste and emissions, and
• Sport and recreation, with sporting and recreational opportunities meeting the needs of residents and visitors to the Scenic Rim.

Community consultation on the draft Corporate Plan will take place at three face-to face events:
• Wednesday 30 April 2025 at The Centre Beaudesert from 5pm to 7pm
• Thursday 1 May 2025 at Boonah Culture Centre from 5pm to 7pm, and
• Tuesday 6 May 2025 at Vonda Youngman Community Centre, Tamborine Mountain from 5pm to 7pm.

"This is a valuable opportunity for members of our community to help shape Council's direction - and our region - for the next five years," Cr Sharp said.

"The draft Corporate Plan represents a new chapter for the Scenic Rim community and I am excited by the possibilities it presents for the future."
