Scenic Rim Regional Council has allocated more than $75,000 in minor grants to 22 not-for-profit organisations which contribute to the quality of life enjoyed by many across the region.

Projects ranging from website development and marketing strategies to major upgrades for sporting clubs were endorsed by Council at its Ordinary Meeting today in the second round of the 2023-2024 Minor Community Grants Program, which offers a maximum of $5,000 per submission.

Scenic Rim Mayor Tom Sharp said Council was proud to support local organisations and groups which added value to the region’s communities.

“Council is pleased to assist organisations which play a pivotal role in shaping the Scenic Rim’s cultural, recreational and community landscape,” he said.

“Our community grants not only provide not-for-profit groups with vital resources, but also empower them to initiate positive change and cultivate a sense of unity within our region.

“We are conscious of the importance of providing financial assistance for organisations which rely heavily on volunteers and fundraising to develop and carry out programs, activities and projects that cater to the diverse needs and interests of residents across our region.”

Mayor Sharp said there was great interest in round two of the minor grants program and 42 applications with a total value of $158,198.73 were received.

The program was oversubscribed, and some projects could not be funded on this occasion.  Following a rigorous selection process by Council’s grant assessment panel, 22 projects were successful and awarded funding,” he said.

“I encourage those applicants who were not successful in securing a grant in this round to seek feedback from Council which will assist them in preparing future grants’ applications.

“I also encourage community organisations and groups to check out the Scenic Rim Grant Guru, a customised online tool designed to help users access and monitor close to $70 billion available nationally across 1,200 grants.”
