Scenic Rim Regional Council invites the community to a free Queensland Day Family Fun Day on Sunday 2 June celebrating Queensland's birthday and the region's newest citizens.

Jubilee Park Beaudesert will host Queensland's 165th birthday celebrations from 10am to 1pm with all the fun of the fair including an animal farm, reptile display, face painting, jumping castles, sausage sizzle, sporting displays, and live music following a citizenship ceremony to welcome the newest members of the Scenic Rim community.

Mayor Tom Sharp, who will conduct the citizenship ceremony for 44 new citizens, encouraged community members from across the region to join the Scenic Rim's birthday bash.

"This Queensland Day marks 165 years since Queensland became an independent colony separate from New South Wales and this year is even more special as Beaudesert celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2024," he said.

"Queensland's story began on 6 June 1859 and at our Queensland Day celebrations 44 members of the Scenic Rim community will write the next chapter in their story as they formally become Australian citizens."

"Council is grateful for the Queensland Government's support in staging this event which will bring our community together," Cr Sharp said.

"I hope as many as possible will accept Council's open invitation to what promises to be a fabulous day of family fun as we celebrate our Scenic Rim lifestyle and heritage and what it means to be a proud Queenslander."

Queensland Day Family Fun Day is part of the 2024 Queensland Government’s Queensland Day celebrations.
