Australia Day Award Nominees: Graham Stumer
Give a shout out to a quiet achiever who makes a difference to our #ScenicRim community by nominating them for a 2023 Australia Day Award!
Winner of the Scenic Rim 2022 Citizen of the Year (31 to 65 years), Graham Stumer is part of this year’s judging panel and is calling on you to nominate a community champion.
Nominations are now open for Council's Australia Day Awards, to be presented in four categories, Citizen of the Year (16-30), Citizen of the Year (31-65), Citizen of the Year (31-65) Citizen of the Year (65+ years) and Community Event of the Year.
A special Mayor's Award, for outstanding overall achievement, is also awarded to an individual chosen from across all categories.
Graham Stumer's award recognised his more than 37 years of service with the State Emergency Services (SES) Boonah Group. Now the Deputy Local Controller, he is highly regarded for his strength of character and dedication.
A true community champion, Graham is also a member of the Boonah Show Society, Boonah Pistol Club and Lutheran Church and also volunteers his time to assist with the maintenance of the Templin Historical Village.
“For me, it was quite an honour to be selected for an award,” Graham said.
“There are a lot of other people doing similar sorts of things and who haven’t been nominated, so please support those who support our community.”
Nominations close on Monday 21 November and can be made here scenicrim.qld.gov.au/grants-funding-awards/australia-day-awards/1
