Every dog has its day and no more so than at the official opening of Boonah's off-leash dog park on Friday 6 October.

There will be plenty to get tails wagging with dog obedience demonstrations, giveaways, a free sausage sizzle for dog owners and treats for their canine companions.

Bicentennial Park's new off-leash area provides separate spaces for dogs large and small, seating for owners to relax while their four-legged friends and fur babies burn off some energy and a water bubbler with a drinking area for dogs all in a beautifully landscaped setting.

The fun and frolics begin at 3.30pm and run until 5pm.

Scenic Rim's Parks, Gardens and Open Space Portfolio Councillor Amanda Hay encouraged dog owners to bring their pets and join in the area's opening celebration.

"Council is proud to have worked with the community, particularly the Rotary Club of Boonah which supplied two bench seats, to deliver this project," she said.
