Council is helping five Scenic Rim sporting and recreational groups to kick some goals, providing a total of $31,500 in grants to help improve their facilities.

Thirteen applications, totalling more than $110,000, were received for Round Two of Council's Sport and Recreation Grants Program during February and were assessed on criteria including their benefit to the community, support for an active and healthy community through increased participation across all age groups, and sustainable management of facilities.

Corporate and Community Services Committee Chair, Cr Virginia West, said the five successful applicants represented diverse sporting and recreational groups from across the Scenic Rim.

"The Beaudesert and District Horse and Pony Club has received funding for its dressage arena bases, while the Boonah Rodeo Association will use its grant to install water troughs to the cattle yards," she said.

"The Beechmont Tennis Club will enhance its facilities with a sight screen windbreak and bracing and the Canungra Sports and Recreation Reserve Grounds has received funding to replace boundary fencing.

"Funding from this round of Council's Sport and Recreation Grants Program will also enable Beaudesert Soccer Club to repair its clubhouse ceiling and paint the clubhouse interior.

"All of these capital works projects will assist grassroots community sporting groups to improve their facilities for the benefit of Scenic Rim residents, encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle in our region."
