From The Department of Transport and Main Roads.

From Saturday 15 October 2022 until the end of 2022, reconstruction works will be required from 7am to 5pm on Saturdays at the single-lane side track on Beechmont Road. Access will remain open during these works. For the safety of motorists and workers, traffic control will be in place on Saturdays.

To safely restore the single-lane side track to two lanes reconstruction works will be carried out downslope for a large concrete retaining wall. This retaining wall will safely allow the second lane to be restored by stabilising the downslope section adjacent to the side track. At the single-lane side track on Beechmont Road, road users can expect:

  • Saturday works, 7am to 5pm until the end of 2022

  • minor delays as traffic controllers will be in place to manage traffic and truck movements

  • the use of sizeable vehicles and machinery that may generate increased noise and vibration.

Every effort will be made to minimise impacts during these works. Residents located near the side track can expect some minor noise and vibration. Noise and vibration measures are managed by the contractor McIlwain Civil Engineering (MCE) on site, to ensure compliance with permitted levels and in accordance with an approved Noise and Vibration Management Plan.

Weekday access through the side track remains in place before 8.30am and after 2.30pm. Access is closed from 8.30am to 2.30pm on weekdays for reconstruction works to continue.

It is important to note that unfavourable weather events such as the current third consecutive La Nina event can impact work schedules, contractor and/or site conditions.

We thank you for your patience and support as we continue these important disaster repair and reconstruction works.

Yours Sincerely,

Customer and Stakeholder Management
