It will be 'cue the fun' when Scenic Rim Regional Council presents its free family movies under the stars in March.

Council’s 2022 Movies in the Park program features the timeless cat and mouse tale of Tom & Jerry, rated G, which will run over consecutive Saturdays at Tamborine Mountain, Beaudesert and Boonah.

Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen said the early evening events were not only for families but also aimed to bring members of the community of all ages together in a relaxed setting.

"Whether you're young or just young-at-heart, these free outdoor movie nights are a wonderful way to connect with others and make the most of the community life we enjoy in the Scenic Rim,” he said.

“There’s something for everyone in Tom & Jerry, which combines spectacular animation and live action with a heart-warming message about the importance of working together as a team.”

With Council hosting the free movie and providing free fruit and giveaways, movie-goers need only bring their own chairs and blankets for a great night out beginning at 6.30pm.

Local service clubs will be selling food and drinks at the movie nights at each location on the following dates:

  • Saturday 5 March            Tamborine Mountain, Showgrounds
  • Saturday 12 March          Beaudesert, Jubilee Park
  • Saturday 19 March          Boonah, Coronation Park

“With the ongoing challenges our community has faced during COVID-19, I hope everyone will accept Council’s invitation to come and enjoy a great night out under the stars with family and friends,” Cr Christensen said.

*All events are subject to COVID-19 restrictions. Moviegoers are advised to check Council’s facebook page for any scheduling changes in the event of wet weather.
