Scenic Rim Regional Council RADF Grants

Individuals, community groups and businesses who have big ideas to support quality arts, cultural and heritage experiences across the region are being encouraged to apply for funding to help kick-start their projects and share them with the wider community.

Applications are now open for Round One of the Arts Development Fund (RADF) “Big Idea” community grants for the 2021-2022 financial year, with a share of $50,000 available for successful applicants.

Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen said he was excited to see the various projects that would be put forward.

"Here in the Scenic Rim, we have many very talented people who are able to use their skills, imagination and ideas to produce quality cultural events the community will love," he said.

"The arts play a big role in how the community interacts with each other, and it's now more important than ever to support the arts and culture industry given how much it has suffered due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

"As a Council, we are proud to offer these grants to those who have ambitions of enriching the lives of others.

"These grants are just one of the many ways we as a Council are committed to ensuring the social, cultural and creative contributions made by our residents are recognised, which in turn provides us with a more vibrant and connected community.

"I am looking forward to seeing the high calibre of projects that will be put forward from our local community."

This year's theme is 'Understanding our World through the Arts and Science', which can be explored through the fields of Science: Technological; Human; and Environmental.

Creative project ideas are being sought through RADF that utilise the arts and sciences to explore our world. This might be connections between technologies and storytelling, poetry and the human sciences or festivals and the environment as an example how we can use these fields to share and understand our world.

RADF Grant Writing Workshops will assist applicants in developing their project, held 3pm-5.30pm followed by a presentation at 6pm, at four locations:

  • Boonah Cultural Centre on 6 September;
  • Vonda Youngman Centre on 7 September;
  • Canungra School of Arts on 8 September, and;
  • The Centre Beaudesert on 9 September.

If you have an idea for a project, you can contact Council's RADF Liaison Officer for assistance with your application by phoning 5540 5111 and visit www.liveatthecentre.com.au to download the funding guidelines, book your spot in the RADF Grant Writing Workshops and find out more.

The closing date for Round One of the RADF “Big Idea” community grants is Wednesday 29 September, with funding for eligible projects commencing after 1 January 2022.

The RADF is a partnership between the Queensland Government and the Scenic Rim Regional Council, which invests in quality arts and cultural experiences across Queensland based on locally determined priorities.
