More than 40 grassroot community groups have helped to make the Scenic Rim a better place to live by delivering their vital services and much-loved events with generous support provided from the Council.

The groups, who are the lifeline of the region, shared in a total of $28,365.92 last financial year which was provided by in-kind contributions through the Scenic Rim Community Grants program.

Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen said the in-kind contributions were Council's way of supporting organisations who make a positive contribution to enrich the lives of all residents.

"Here in the Scenic Rim we are blessed to have so many selfless people who work tirelessly to ensure the region remains the tight-knit community we all know and love," he said.

"They all work extremely hard, put in long hours, and many rely on volunteers to run their activities, programs and groups, so it is important we can help lend a hand where we can so they can continue to deliver these great events and services at a low cost."

In accordance with Council's Grant and Funding Programs policy, in-kind assistance is where Council resources, material and/or services are available to support community projects in lieu of grant funding or in some cases supplementary to grant funding.

The maximum amount of in-kind contributions that community groups can access in a financial year is $1,000 and their organisation must be based within the Scenic Rim Regional Council boundary lines.

Successful applicants used their funds to subsidise venue hire and waste collection.
