Fraudulent emails mimicking Council

IMPORTANT NOTICE - FRAUDULENT EMAILS MIMICKING COUNCIL

Some members of the public may have received an email that appears to have come from Scenic Rim Regional Council, and in particular, from the Mayor. This email includes both Council and Queensland Government logos in an attempt to look authentic, however it is fraudulent and a malicious attempt to have recipients click on links that may either phish information or try to damage your system with a virus.

The fraudulent message contains the following subject line: RE: Scenic Rim Regional Council Community Organization Members Notice {Secured}

We strongly recommend you delete this email if you receive it, and importantly do not click on any of the links.

It's important to note that Council's systems have not been breached. This fraudulent email was created outside of the organisation. Council has advised the relevant authorities and is working with Queensland Police on this matter.
