SCENIC RIM WELCOMES $10 MILLION PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT
Scenic Rim Regional Council has welcomed the Queensland Government's announcement of a proposed $10 million agricultural industrial precinct as a coordinated project.
Minister for State Development , Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning Cameron Dick today said Scenic Rim's agricultural sector was set to flourish with the Coordinator-General declaring as a coordinated project a 40-hectare industrial precinct proposed by vegetable grower Kalfresh.
Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen said Council looked forward to exploring the finer details of the project which, if approved, would allow food processing, production and manufacturing businesses to be located in a precinct in the Fassifern Valley.
"We are delighted that the State Government has created the forward momentum for this project," Cr Christensen said.
"A precinct that builds strongly on our high quality food credentials and does so within the Fassifern Valley, which is the heart of our fresh produce area, sits well with our aspirations for the region.
"This project is embedded in the richness of our fresh produce culture and is a good fit with meeting our goals for long-term sustainable agriculture."
