Give our community champions a thumbs up

Nominations for the 2018 Scenic Rim Australia Day Awards are now open across seven categories that highlight the significant contributions of citizens and community groups across the region.

Mayor Greg Christensen said the awards program was an important opportunity to recognise the many unsung heroes and quiet achievers whose efforts made a positive difference to the Scenic Rim community.

“Our Australia Day Awards program is a fantastic way to acknowledge and celebrate the people who contribute to making the Scenic Rim as great as it is," he said.

"I'm sure we all know of many selfless and hardworking people who happily work behind the scenes to make their communities a better place, so why not take this opportunity to shine a spotlight on their efforts.

“I encourage residents to nominate a friend, a family member, a work colleague or a community leader who they believe deserves to be recognised for their contributions to our community.”

Nomination categories are:

  • Community Event of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Citizen of the Year
  • Senior Citizen of the Year
  • Spirit of the Scenic Rim Cultural Award
  • Healthy and Active Sports Award
  • Community Champion Award

Nominees and finalists will be recognised at the annual Scenic Rim Australia Day Award Presentations in January 2018.
