Council has affirmed its commitment to the guiding principles of its long-standing Code of Conduct for Councillors.

Corporate and Community Services Committee chair Cr Virginia West said Council had adopted minor revisions to the Code of Conduct to reflect updated advice from the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ).

"We acknowledge that the community expects a high standard of behaviour from its elected representatives," she said.

"A specific Councillor Code of Conduct is not mandatory for council, rather it supplements the statutory obligations of all councillors to act in accordance with the 'local government principles' of the Local Government Act."

"Scenic Rim has long maintained an agreed Code of Conduct to ensure we meet the expectations of the community, based on a framework recommended by the LGAQ."

"It provides a range of additional accountabilities beyond the roles, responsibilities and obligations set down in legislation."
