Game, Set and Match

It's game, set and match to Tamborine Mountain Tennis Club Inc, which has scored a new five-year lease from Council on premises in Beacon Road.

Corporate and Community Services Chair, Cr Virginia West, said that since the club's first entered into a lease agreement with Council in 2010 it had made significant improvements to the property which included a tennis court, clubhouse, toilet block, storage room, water tanks and car park.

"From its founding in 2001, the club has experienced strong growth, particularly in recent years, of around 20 per cent annually, so that membership now stands at around 140," she said.

"It's not only a high quality sporting facility but also a social hub for the local community.

"The tennis courts are hired by club members, the general public and the neighbouring Tamborine Mountain College."

Cr West said the club's mission to encourage participation in tennis and social interaction aligned with Council's vision for a healthy and active Scenic Rim community.

"The club is continuing to plan ahead for future generations of players and administrators so that more juniors, seniors and volunteers can enjoy being part of a highly successful community tennis association," she said.
