Blossoming Wedding Industry to Grow in Garden Setting

Tamborine Mountain's blossoming wedding industry has received a further boost following Council's approval of a tourist cabin to be used in conjunction with small boutique ceremonies in established gardens.

Council has approved the addition of the one-bedroom cabin to the four-hectare site in Yuulong Road that will host a maximum of 12 wedding ceremonies a year for up to 40 guests at a time.

Planning and Development Committee Chair Cr Rick Stanfield said that the project would enhance the character of Tamborine Mountain and create economic growth in the region by bringing more visitors to the Scenic Rim.

"The development provides a small-scale wedding venue for ceremonies thatwill last a maximum of four hours, so there is a minimal impact on neighbours," he said.

"As the Yuulong Street site is limited to ceremonies, receptions from these small boutique weddings will have to be held at larger venues on the Mountain.

"The flow-on from this is that guests will also require accommodation locally and will likely explore Tamborine Mountain and its attractions, providing a further economic boost for the area."
