COVID-19 update

Some of Scenic Rim Regional Council's services will be impacted following the Queensland Government announcing a three-day lockdown in response to COVID-19, which starts at 6:00pm today.

Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen said that while Council's essential services would still operate, there would be an impact to some of Council's facilities and its school holiday program.

"Unfortunately our libraries and cultural centres will be closed for the remainder of the week, and are expected to re-open on Monday," he said.

"We are disappointed that this will impact our school holiday program, however our teams are looking at what activities they may be able to deliver online for our families at home.

"The most important thing is that we all follow the guidelines to keep our communities safe."

While Customer Service and Administration Offices will also be closed, including the Queensland Government's QGap services in Boonah, Cr Christensen said customers can still call Council for any enquiries.

"Our customer contact teams are available to support our customers with any enquiries, and of course, customers can also email us with any non-urgent enquiries," he said.

"Council's waste services, including waste collection, transfer stations and the Bromelton landfill will remain open and operational, and we encourage people to wear masks and practice social distancing if they need to visit.

"Community members will still see our teams out maintaining roads, parks and gardens and capital works, as we continue delivering essential services for the community.

"This latest lockdown shows that the pandemic is still a very real threat to our communities.

"We must all continue to practice good hygiene, maintain social distancing when going out for essentials such as medical appointments and groceries, and always wear a face mask as directed by the Queensland Government."
