Little Farmer Humpty Day - Eat Local Week

You don’t have to go far for school holiday fun this winter, thanks to an exciting calendar of events hosted by Scenic Rim Regional Council and local businesses.

Mayor Greg Christensen said there’s something for everyone these school holidays across Council’s libraries, cultural and community centres and this year’s Scenic Rim Eat Local Week program.

“Get the kids off their devices and out of the house these school holidays with events for all ages and interests right across our region” he said.

“The School Holiday program gives our younger residents spaces to make new friends, have some fun and continue learning new skills even while they’re out of the classroom.

“Not to mention, we have the biggest program of events in Scenic Rim Eat Local Week history kicking off this Saturday with farm tours, food festivals, hands-on workshops and more for the whole family.

“View Council’s School Holiday program on the website at www.scenicrim.qld.gov.au/annual-events and check out all the exciting events happening across the region at whatsonscenicrim.com.au.”

Council's libraries have a full calendar of free school holiday workshops including story times, Lego challenges, game sessions and you can event pick up a School Holiday Kit from any of our libraries to take home with you.

There’s a range of activities on offer across Council’s Cultural and Community Centres to keep the kids entertained and maybe even spark a new passion. Cook up a storm in Back to Basics Cook Classes, learn First Nations stories and create your own art in Dragonfly Dreaming, learn how to juggle, spin plates and more at Flipside Circus’ Supa Circus School, and unleash your child’s creative spirit at the three-day Creativity Book Camp with Goat Track Theatre.

Come along to the Boonah Cultural Centre and The Centre Beaudesert for the popular Kids’ Flicks with screenings of Pan, The Croods: A New Age, Scooby Doo: The Sword and The Scoob, Missing Link and My Spy. Tickets are just $5 per person, visit liveatthecentre.com.au to view screening times and buy your tickets.

Scenic Rim Eat Local Week includes a variety of experiences for the whole family to enjoy. Experience a real working farm at Summer Land Camels’ Little Farmer Humpty Day and Tommerup’s Dairy Farm’s Back Stage Pass.

Kids can also make their own cheese at Towri Sheep Cheeses, learn how Greenlee Farm produces Australia’s tastiest macadamias and make their own seed bombs to take home with Jasmine Urban Farms.

Plus, don’t miss out on the family fun at the Winter Harvest Festival at Aratula on Saturday 3 July, with a smorgasbord of local produce, free rides for the kids and the annual Tractor Pulling Competition for both juniors and seniors. Find out more at www.eatlocalweek.com.au
