Scenic Rim Eat Local Week 2021

Everyone's favourite regional food festival is back with the highly anticipated 2021 Scenic Rim Eat Local Week program launched today.

More than 150 people, including local producers, gathered at Tommerup's Dairy Farm in the Kerry Valley to celebrate the launch of ticket sales for the 10th anniversary of the Scenic Rim's signature food festival.

Mayor Greg Christensen said 2021 marks the biggest program in Eat Local Week's history featuring more than 120 events.

"Since its inception in 2011, Scenic Rim Eat Local Week has gone from strength-to-strength and this year will be no different," he said.

"Locals and visitors can expect a jam-packed calendar full of their favourite events for foodies of all ages, from long table lunches and degustation dinners, to farm-gates and family fun at the Winter Harvest Festival.

"We'll also have a range of new activities to sink your teeth into, such as the Decade of Delicious event where you can celebrate the memories over the past 10 years.

"After a year of cancelled events across the globe, we cannot wait to see old friends and welcome new ones to join the Eat Local Week family and experience everything the Scenic Rim has to offer.

"I encourage everyone to start booking their events and accommodation early and get ready for an Eat Local Week like no other."

Kay Tommerup of Tommerup's Dairy Farm said she feels such a sense of pride being part of Eat Local Week and the Scenic Rim community.

"Eat Local Week is a time when we not only open our farm gates to visitors for bespoke farm experiences, it’s when we can celebrate all of the amazing things that our fellow farmers and producers are creating in the region," she said.

"We have such a wonderful group of passionate producers, all welcoming visitors for a glimpse into their lives. I love that we can attend events held by other producers and enjoy watching their businesses shine.

"This year, we will be hosting our Breakfast with the Jersey Girls with a gourmet twist, which is the only event throughout the year where day visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty of a morning on the farm.

"Looking back over our involvement with Eat Local Week, we can see how much our business has grown and developed through opening our farm gates to visitors for a backstage pass to our family dairy farm."

Scenic Rim Eat Local Week is proudly supported by Tourism and Events Queensland, Brisbane Economic Development Agency, The Courier Mail, Urban Utilities, Kalfresh Vegetables, Moffatt Fresh Produce and Kalbar and District Community Bank. In 2021, the event has also received assistance via the Australian Government’s Bushfire Recovery Initiative.
