Scenic Rim's newest children's playground will be officially opened to the community on Saturday, 4 November. To celebrate the completion of the new playground in Beaudesert's Jubilee Park, Council is staging an afternoon of free family fun.

Mayor Greg Christensen said the afternoon would kick-off with free entry to the Beaudesert Pool between 12pm and 4.30pm.

"This will be followed at 2pm with an array of FREE family-oriented activities including a sausage sizzle, baby animal shows, face painting, a jumping castle and a DJ," he said.

"We will be officially opening the new playground at 3pm but the fun will continue throughout the afternoon."

Cr Christensen said the new playground at Jubilee Park would provide 120 different activities to engage and entertain children

"Among the new playground amenities with be a custom upside-down tower with a rope climb and covered slides, a double-bay swing, giant 'birds nest' swing, a twisted climbing net, a flying-fox cableway and climbing blocks," he said.

He said the project was an outcome of Council's long-term Playground Strategy.

"This strategy is designed to guide the management and improvement of community playgrounds across the region," he said.

"We want to provide contemporary play spaces which offer children a wide variety of outdoor experiences."

Council will soon be starting construction of a new playground at Canungra's DJ Smith Park.
