Council has commenced the tendering process for Phase 1 of the Beaudesert Town Centre Revitalisation and in July will be hosting information sessions for residents and businesses affected by the works.

Federal Member for Wright, the Hon Scott Buchholz MP said that as the major financial contributor to this project, the Australian Government is proud to partner with other tiers of government to fund the Beaudesert Town Centre Revitalisation.

“The $4.19 million of funding through the Building Better Regions Fund will be a breath of fresh air for the Beaudesert Town Centre and help revitalise the community and also support local business in town, “Mr Buchholz said.

“This funding is part of our commitment to create local jobs, drive economic growth and build a stronger Beaudesert and Scenic Rim into the future.”

Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen said the first phase of the project includes significant capital works that address legacy issues such as storm water flooding in the town centre, traffic flows, pedestrian safety and car parking.

"We are calling for tenders for contractors to undertake works for caravan and car parking and to extend Selwyn Street," he said.

"These foundation works will provide the critical base before all the aesthetic work can begin, which will create a welcoming town centre precinct, and builds on Council's commitment to its Vibrant and Active Towns and Villages program."

Deputy Mayor and Division 4 Councillor Michael Enright said Council will also be expanding on its community engagement by hosting information sessions during July with those affected or involved in the upcoming works.

"These sessions will be held at 'The Beauy Hub' at 113 Brisbane Street by appointment and we're asking businesses, community groups and individuals directly impacted to book a session by contacting Council," he said.

"This is part of our commitment to community engagement to ensure those directly affected by the works can ask questions and find out more about the project.

"We have also released a fly-through video of the Beaudesert Town Centre and Proposed Community Hub and Library, which gives our community an idea of how the town centre will look in the future.

"The town centre revitalisation is made possible by generous funding from both the Australian and Queensland Governments, meaning minimal impost on Council's general revenue, which is a great outcome for ratepayers."

"Phase 1 includes drainage improvements that will give businesses in Brisbane and Eaglesfield Streets, that have experienced storm water flooding in the past, more confidence going forward," Cr Enright said.

The Beaudesert town centre revitalisation is jointly funded by the Australian Government ($4,190,593), and Queensland Government ($3,750,000) in association with Scenic Rim Regional Council contributing $460,065.

To make an appointment, impacted residents and businesses should contact Council via email mail@scenicrim.qld.gov.au or telephone 07 5540 5111 quoting 'The Beauy Hub'.
